RE:AoA Indexer
Referencing the AoA indexer critique in the review, there are a couple of points.
The question was asked,"... why is it included in the Iris Texan II?" The fact is all U.S. military aircraft have both an AoA gauge and indexer installed. The reason is for a more precise control of approach parameters regardless of landing weight, IAS, etc.
The second issue is the comment that "fighting the donut" placed the approach at too high a speed. I found that the initial install had the indications reversed and the incidence alpha entered incorrectly (this may have since been addressed). I dug into the manuals and data I had available and altered the values, indicators and added "a little fast" and "a little slow" indications similar to what was applied in the real world T-34C, T-45 and carrier capable aircraft. David Brice approved distribution of the modified gauge.
One can go to
my site, click on the "Flight Simulation" tab, read a more detailed account and download the modified gauge. I think it will solve any problems one is having with using it in the Iris' bird.
